Lemoncello, Legos, and Little Pigs

We have some exciting activities happening in our library classes this week!  Grade 5 is in the midst of a “Mr. Lemoncello’s Library” challenge. Groups are working together to solve riddles in each of the nonfiction sections. Will they find all of the clues??  Maybe you can help them with one or two. They are also excited because we will be having a Skype visit with author Chris Grabenstein in February!!

Kindergarten read The Three Billy Goats Gruff by Paul Galdone this week. They tried to build a bridge for the goats to cross (safely!) out of Legos and K’Nex.

Second grade has been talking about different versions of traditional stories. Last week’s story was The Three Little Pigs by James Marshall. We compared it to The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka. Their activity was to build a better home for the unfortunate (depending on your point of view) first and second little pigs.  These homes were my favorite! One has a “barricade” so that the wolf can’t get through, built by these gentlemen, and one is on wheels “so it will just blow away when the wolf comes.”  Great builds, guys!
