Library Checkout Policies

Welcome to the Sippican School Library!

Students at Sippican are expected to be respectful, responsible, and kind.
With that in mind, it is the responsibility of all Sippican School students to take care of their library materials.

Checkout Procedures:

Students are invited to select library books during library class and at any point during the week when it is convenient for their classroom teachers. We love it when students finish a book and can’t wait to checkout another!

Kindergarten – one book (or one blue bag if it is within the first 8 weeks)

Grade 1 – one book (until January, when they are invited to select two)

Grade 2 – two books

Grade 3 – three books

Grades 4-6 – four books

Placing Holds and Renewing Books

Students are invited to place a “hold” for any book that they’d like if it is currently checked out by someone else. Holds may be placed at the front desk of the library at any time.  Books are due every week during library class. Students may renew books as long as there is no one waiting for the book to be returned to the library.

Damaged or Lost Books

Students are responsible for their library materials. If an item is damaged or lost it must be replaced.  Replacement may occur via payment for the item or by the purchase of the item independently.  We appreciate your help in keeping our collection ready for everyone to use!
