It’s Poem in Your Pocket Day

Mirror, Mirror by Marilyn Singer.Hi Everyone!  I hope you are all enjoying your April vacation.  Did you know that today is National Poem in Your Pocket Day?  It is a great way to share a piece of poetry with your friends and family.  If you don’t have a favorite poem, maybe you can borrow mine.  This year, I chose “The Road” by Marilyn Singer.  It is from her book called “Mirror, Mirror”.  This is a book full of poems written in reverso.  That means they can be read from top to bottom and bottom to top and tell a different story each way.  Here’s the poem.

“It may be such

A fairy tale secret,

this much

I know:

The road leads

wherever

you need to go.”

Did you read it both ways?  Which direction did you like best? I like reading this poem from the bottom to the top.  Have a great Poem in Your Pocket Day, and don’t forget to share it with a friend!
