For K-3 Students (name - sippican, password - read)

Mondays are busy with STEAM classes. Today’s challenge in grade 3 was to make a “recycling center” and program Dash to move all three cups into the center with one press of the start button. They did a great job! 🤖💻💡 #sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor Look at this adorable student gift that I received this week! Isn’t it amazingly thoughtful? A homemade heart journal, and two spot-on stickers. I will display them with pride! ❤️📚👍 #sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor Look 👀 at how many books our Sippican readers have checked out this year so far! Do you think we can reach 18,000 by the end of the year?❤️📚👍 #goals #sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor Following National Library Week, it’s Independent Bookstore Day! Off on an adventure in Newport and found @charterbooks. So many awesome new titles to add to my purchase list for the fall. ❤️📚👍 #sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor It’s not as glamorous as our tech specific classes, but let’s remember that library classes also spend time exploring the nonfiction collection in the library. We work to make sure that students can ask a question, perform a search, and locate a resource on our shelves. So many of the 3rd graders today found topics they didn’t know we had! That was the goal. ✅📚❤️👍#sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor Look who made the @scholasticbookfairs Insta page! We appreciated ALL of our Book Fair support this year! Thanks for helping us to spread the love of reading. ❤️📚👍 #sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor It’s our 19th annual Vocabulary Day at Sippican School today! I can’t wait to see everyone’s words and costumes! Here we are: cruciverbalist, mugwump, and clowder. 😂❤️👍📚 #sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor This book is fantastic, especially for ideas for Vocabulary Day! Our 19th Annual Vocabulary Day is tomorrow, Friday, April 14. We can’t wait to see your words! Looking for details? Check out sippicanlibrary.com! Vocabulary Day is this Friday! Do you have your word? Have you registered? Stop by the library if you need help making a decision. We have lots of scintillating books full of fascinating vocabulary words! 📚❤️👍#sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor “The dog ate my magazine.” 😬😬 WelI I WAS looking forward to reading the latest School Library Journal… This is why I’m always understanding if a student accidentally damages a book. It happens to all of us! At least he looks sorry about it… 📚❤️👍🐶#sippicanspecialists #Sippican school #weareor Last week was so busy with Book Fair that I forgot to post these pics from STEAM. My first grade group was SO proud of their ramps made from Keva planks. You may not realize it, but their first attempts were very basic. After seeing a few builds with different construction strategies, they came up with these. Love to see progression in their use of materials! ❤️🧱🪵 #sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor Check out these happy shoppers at the Book Fair today! I love hearing the conversations afterward about the books they chose (and why). PLUS seeing everyone clamber for a place to sit and get started on that first new book is priceless. Thank you to our community for supporting this annual Fair. We ❤️ reading at Sippican! 📚👍 #sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor @scholasticbookfairs We have had so many amazing volunteers at the Book Fair this week! (20 parents/community members PLUS our ORR Ambassadors) Here are two of my favorites helping out this afternoon. ❤️📚👍 #sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor @scholasticbookfairs A class of happy shoppers today at the Book Fair! We have Family shopping today and tomorrow (Tues.&Wed.) from 3-5. Hope to see you there! 📚❤️👍 #sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor Flashback Monday (8 years ago!)! Back when the Clifford costume used to come with the Fair… Under the mask this time was Mr. Resmini. ❤️ In other news, the Book Fair began today! Lots of happy shoppers and fantastic new books chosen. Find all the details at sippicanlibrary.com! 📚👍#sippicanspecialists #sippicanschool #weareor @scholasticbookfairs It’s Book Fair time! We set up this afternoon with three amazing helpers. Countless great choices (most that were NOT at the fall Fair) which I love to see! Tomorrow is Preview Day and I am so excited to discover what books the kids are MOST drawn to. Sippican turns out in a major way for our Book Fairs! ❤️📚👍#sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor @barbarahollandmoody It’s almost time for the Book Fair! Our Preview Day will be this Friday, and shopping begins on 3/27. You can shop in three ways: during library class, after school with families (3/28 and 3/29 until 5pm), or on the Fair website. Questions? Read all the details at sippicanlibrary.com! 📚❤️👍🎊#sippicanspecialists #sippicanschool #weareor Remember this guy? We are pleased to share that we have received a grant from @masscue to purchase a set of 5 Marty robots! We are SO excited to bring him to our library! Thank you, @masscue! 🎊🎉👍🤖💻 #sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor What a great way to start the first week of Spring! Our March All School Meeting was this morning and we celebrated our One Book One School projects, heard all about what’s coming up (thanks, Jr. Reporters!), celebrated our Winter Reading Challenge participants, and our Character Counts awards for the month! Wow! Plus, two lucky readers per grade won a gift certificate to the Book Fair. Congratulations to all our participants! ❤️📚👍 #sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor @sippenrichment It’s RIF week! Over the next week everyone will receive their new RIF books. We are so excited to distribute them! Lots of happy readers. Thank you so much to the generous people in our community that make this experience possible! ❤️📚👍#sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor @sippicanvase It’s a rainy Saturday. Is there anything better than hanging out at the public library? ❤️📚👍 #sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor @elizabethtaberlibrary The R.I.F. books are here! The R.I.F. books are here! We are proud to operate the oldest R.I.F. (Reading is Fundamental) program in the state of Massachusetts. Students pre-selected their choices a few weeks ago and they are ready to be distributed this coming week! We will have a special celebration and make thank you notes. Be sure to ask your child about their R.I.F. book next week! 📚❤️👍#sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor @sippicanvase Our Winter Reading Challenge has come to an end! Thanks to everyone who participated. Be sure to return your reading passports to the library if you’d like to be entered in the raffle for gift certificates to spend at our upcoming Book Fair. All passports are due by tomorrow, March 3. (An email works, too, if you’ve lost the passport!) 📚❤️👍 #sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor Our “One Book One School” title this year is The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson. It’s a gorgeous book in word and illustration with themes of building community, celebrating our differences, and finding our connections. Students in grades 3 and 4 have been creating Buncees to show what belonging and community mean to them. ❤️👍📚 #sippicanschool #sippicanspecialists #weareor
