Banned Books Week @ Sippican Library

This week is national Banned Books Week.  With some of our library classes we talked about why books are banned. Students were shocked to hear that Harry Potter, Captain Underpants, Junie B. Jones, and The Giver are some of the most frequently banned books!  We are very lucky to have so many options for our reading enjoyment at Sippican. Have you read a banned book? Which one is your favorite?

Happy Dot Day-ish!

Hi Everyone! Well, we didn’t celebrate #InternationalDotDay with everyone on the 15th, but we are celebrating all of this week in the Sippican Library.   Today, 5th grade connected the dots between Dot Day and the Acceptable Use Policy. 4th grade watched an interview with author Peter Reynolds came up with some questions about Dot Day that we might send along to him via Twitter. 1st and 2nd grades read The Dot and got to sing along to Emily Arrow’s “The Dot” song with hand motions. Every class asked to hear it again!  So, how will you make your mark? Make it matter!
